Farmers

Overview

Community development focused

We work primarily with widows, adult orphans and very poor people in a holistic effort to restore their dignity, improve their livelihoods, and rebuild their communities. These form a farmers’ association of about 80 people regularly working on its farm site at Gahara in Kirehe District Eastern Province.

Additionally, more than 120 poor casual farmers work on the farm at seasons’ peaks.

We believe in fostering association/cooperative autonomy and self-sufficiency, while providing various trainings such as agribusiness management and HIV/AIDS prevention and care. The cooperative farming structure is also a valuable social arrangement for fostering reconciliation, unity, and relationships among farmers.
