IMPACT STORIES

With wages earned working on Ikirezi geranium farm sites, many farmers have been able to improve their livelihood and have a more dignified life they could not have afforded otherwise due to scarcity of jobs in the country side . Some of their stories told here below are a reminder that no work is negligible and that even through work on a farming site like those of Ikirezi, one can, not only earn a living but register remarkable developmental progress.

THE FARMERS

The story of Alphonsine

Alphonsine Mukanziza is in her early sixties. Over two decades ago, she moved to Gahara from the Southern part of Rwanda running away from an abusive husband who used to beat her up badly especially when he was drunk. Alphonsine was welcomed by a relative who was living in Gahara near where Ikirezi’s farm is located. The story of Francine

Francine Mukamabano’s journey with Ikirezi began in 2012, alongside her husband. He was a skilled craftsman who made the clay burners used for Ikirezi essential oils. For years, he faithfully supplied these burners—until his untimely passing. Suddenly, Francine found herself a widow with four young children to raise.
She admits she didn’t know how to properly make the burners at first. But she had no choice—her children depended on her. With Ikirezi’s encouragement and partnership, Francine stepped into her husband’s role and began learning the craft..…….Read more (PDF)

Making Quality Matter Workshop

Join us for a 3-day workshop (4–6 November 2025) on Making Quality Matter in Essential Oil Production & Processing. From classroom learning in Kigali to a hands-on field visit in Gahara, participants will explore every step “from seed to bottle.” The program includes expert sessions, practical training, guided farm visits, transport, meals, branded materials, and a certificate of completion—designed for both local and international participants.
